DAY 1USA /SAN SALVADOR
Departure from the U.S. to El Salvador International Airport, where you will be met by our representative. Transfer to your selected category hotel in San Salvador
DAY 2 San Salvador City Explorer and Joya de Ceren - Archeological site declared human heritage by UNESCO.
The tour starts at 8:30 a.m. We will drive through the streets and avenues of the city until we arrive to Santa Elena; a beautiful residential area. After this we will visit the National Anthropological Museum Dr. David J. Guzman, where we will be able to have a guided tour in this interesting historical location. We will continue our tour through La Zona Rosa where you will be able to find everything to satisfy your night life; Paseo General Escalon, until we arrive to the monument of the Divino Salvador del Mundo, placed in Plaza Las Americas. Then we will continue the tour until we arrive to the monument of the Fallen Victims during the war; which is found in Park Cuscatlan, considered to be one of the most important cries in the country, where we will have the opportunity to appreciate the monument; than our tour shall continue through Los Heroes Boulevard, Alameda Juan Pablo II and Centro de Gobierno until we arrive to National Historical Centre which will bring us very close to the Metropolitan Cathedral and to the National Palace; when we finish we will visit the monument of Central American Independence, which is found in a plaza that bares its same name, found within the premises of the famous historical El Zapote military base. And to finish our tour we shall go to a view-point located in Planes de Renderos, which will place us at an altitude of 1000 mts above sea level that will give us the most magnificent view of the city and also access to a gallery of hand crafted artifacts. We will finish the tour in the city at noon with a good local lunch. Joya de Ceren is considered to be the most important archeological site ever discovered in El Salvador. To leave the city we will take the Quezaltepeque highway, driving through this highway we will be able to appreciate one of the petrified lava rivers of the last eruption of the Quezaltepeque volcano, in 1917, now known as San Salvador’s volcano. We will stop to admire this beautiful landscape. After this we shall continue to our main destination: Joya de Ceren which was declared world heritage by UNESCO in 1993 for being the only location in the whole Mayan culture where you can appreciate the day to day living styles of the popular pre-Columbian inhabitants. All was well preserved thanks to the ashes of the volcano’s eruption .We will return to the city through the Pan-American Highway going up and through the mountains that belong to El Balsamo´s mountain rangeTransfer to Suchitoto. Overnight stay at hotel Posada de Suchitlan or similar.(B/L)
DAY 3 Suchitoto and Lake Suchitlan
If you have ever had the desire to visit a beautiful colonial city and enjoy nature, this is the ideal place for you. Suchitoto is beautiful colonial city that dwells between the Guazapa volcano and the magnificent Lake of Suchitlan. When we reach the city we will visit Puerto San Juan, at the feet of Lake Suchitlan, where we will board a typical boat to go see the Bird Island, a real natural paradise, home to thousands of birds. We will then return to Puerto San Juan to have lunch. After a good lunch we will stroll through Suchitoto. The beauty of this town starts from its exotic landscapes that combine the colonial architecture with the mountains up to its antique stone roads. The guided tour on foot will take us to visit its theater, church, plazas and admire its colonial architecture. Night at hotel Posada de Suchitlan or similar. (B/L)
DAY 4 Ilobasco & La Paz Farm
We will start our journey visiting Ilobasco, a town that is well known because of its art and clay miniatures. In Ilobasco you will visit the local stores where you will be able to admire the gorgeous pieces crafted by the locals. Here in Ilobasco you will lunch in a local restaurant. Then we will take you to visit La Paz farm, an auto sustainable place where you will hike in a beautiful forest and you be able to admire the different spieces of trees, fruits and local plants; this short trip will be finished in the greenhouse of this property. Return to San Salvador at afternoon. Night at hotel Posada de Suchitlan or similar. (B/L)
DAY 5 Day Off and transfer to La Palma
Day off. This day you can enjoy on your own the beautiful colonial city of Suchitoto. Afternoon transfer to La Palma, San Ignacio region. Night at hotel Entre Pinos or similar. (B)
DAY 6 La Palma – City of Artisans
The tour will start at 9:00 a.m. In this journey we will take you to La Palma, one of the most re-known cities for its art. Here interesting crafts are painted on wood and Copinol seeds with a singular artistic expression and beautiful colors. Also, because we will be at an altitude of 1200 mts above sea level you are going to find a very pleasant climate. In La Palma, we will visit local craftsman’s workshops; so we can have the opportunity to learn about their art and above all, you will be able to participate in the elaboration of one of these beautiful pieces and take it home as a souvenir of your unforgettable stay. After lunch we re-take our journey to the town of San Ignacio, a gorgeous and quiet place located on the roots of the Pital Mountain, the highest mountain of El Salvador. Transfer to San Salvador at afternoon. Night at hotel Entre Pinos or similar. (B,L)
DAY 7 Morning free and afternoon transfer to San Salvador
In the morning you can rest at the hotel or take a local tour in the region of La Palma. Afternoon transfer to San Salvador. Night at selected hotel in San Salvador( B)
DAY 8 EL SALVADOR / U.S.
Transfer to the International Airport for your return flight to the U.S. Meals (B)
